So Close: CapricornEagles Push Uganda to the Edge in Two-Run Thriller

In a nail-biting encounter in the Capricorn Eagles Series at the High Performance Cricket Oval, Uganda beat Namibia by just two runs in a tense match that left fans on the edge of their seats.

Namibia won the toss and chose to bowl first, setting the stage for an exciting contest. Uganda’s batting lineup faced a challenging start, but managed to post a total of 98/5 after 20 overs, thanks to some impressive batting performances, especially from Iloku Esther. Esther was in excellent form, anchoring the innings with a brilliant 47 runs off 54 balls. Her calm and composed innings was a standout effort, earning her the Player of the Match accolade.

The Namibian bowlers put up a strong fight, with Wilka Mwatile leading the charge by claiming two wickets. However, it was Arrasta Diergaardt who stole the show in the field, taking two outstanding catches that helped keep Uganda’s total within reach. Despite these efforts, Namibia’s chase fell short, with the team managing only 96 runs, just two behind Uganda’s total, in an unfortunate defeat.

The final over of the game saw immense pressure as Namibia needed 10 runs to win. Ugandan bowler Kulume P held her nerve brilliantly, delivering a tight last over that denied Namibia the victory. At the crease during those crucial last six balls were Namibian players Sylvia Shihepo and Mekelaye Mwatile, who fought hard but couldn’t get their team over the line.

Uganda’s Akiteng Sarah was exceptional with the ball, finishing with 3 wickets for just 6 runs in 4 overs.
