Kayleen Green Shines as Capricorn Eagles Secure a Win in Series

In the third match of the Capricorn Eagles Series held in Windhoek, Namibia’s women’s national cricket team, the Capricorn Eagles, secured a much-needed win against Uganda, triumphing by 23 runs to keep the series alive.

After losing the first two matches of the six-game series—despite winning both tosses—Namibia turned the tide in Game 3. This time, Uganda won the toss and opted to field first, but the Eagles took full advantage of their batting opportunity, posting the highest total of the series so far: 124 runs.

Opening pair Kayleen Green and Suné Wittmann laid a solid foundation, crafting a 63-run stand off 59 balls. Kayleen delivered a standout performance, scoring a quickfire 48 off 42 balls, narrowly missing out on a half-century after being dismissed by Uganda’s Concy Aweko. Captain Suné Wittmann contributed a valuable 29 off 26, playing a vital supporting role.

The momentum continued with a steady partnership between Wilka Mwatile and Yasmeen Khan, who added 31 runs off 38 balls, helping Namibia reach a defendable total.

In response, Uganda managed only 101 for 4 in their 20 overs. The visitors had a slow start, with Malisa Ariokot scoring 24 off 23 and Kevin Awino contributing 28 off 51, but the Namibian bowlers kept the run rate under control throughout the innings.

The win marks Namibia’s first in the series, injecting confidence into the squad as they look ahead to the remaining fixtures.
