The Namibia women’s national cricket team, the Capricorn Eagles, have officially named a 15-member squad ahead of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier 2026, set to be held in Nepal from 13th January until 2nd February. The tournament represents the final qualification pathway to the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, which will be staged on 12 June to 5 July 2026.
For Namibia, this campaign marks a historic and defining moment in the growth of women’s cricket. The Capricorn Eagles have never featured at a women’s World Cup in any format, and the Global Qualifier presents an unprecedented opportunity to break new ground and secure qualification for the first time. As the team prepares to depart for Nepal, they do so with confidence, ambition, and the backing of a nation that believes in their potential.
Namibia earned their place at the Global Qualifier through the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier, where the Capricorn Eagles finished among the top two teams. Their qualification campaign showcased the team’s discipline, resilience, and continued improvement against strong regional opposition, reinforcing Namibia’s growing reputation within Associate women’s cricket.
The Africa Qualifier success reflects years of structured development by Cricket Namibia, with increased investment in high-performance programmes, regular international exposure, and a strong domestic pipeline contributing to the team’s upward trajectory. Qualification for the Global Qualifier stands as a reward for the collective efforts of players, coaches, administrators, and partners committed to advancing the women’s game.
The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier 2026 will feature ten teams. The tournament brings together leading Associate and emerging women’s cricket nations from across the world, each vying for a spot at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.
Matches will be staged in Nepal at Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground, Upper Mulpani Cricket Ground, and at the Lower Mulpani Cricket Ground.
The Capricorn Eagles’ participation in the Global Qualifier represents more than just another tournament, it is a chance to make history. Qualification for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup would mark a landmark achievement for Namibian cricket.
The Capricorn Eagles continue to benefit from the unwavering support of Capricorn Group, the official sponsor of the Namibia women’s national cricket team. Capricorn Group’s partnership has been instrumental in enabling sustained development, improved preparation, and greater international exposure for the women’s game.
As the Capricorn Eagles prepare to compete in Nepal, they carry with them the hopes of the Namibian cricket community and the support of fans across the country. The Global Qualifier promises intense competition, high stakes, and moments that could define the future of women’s cricket in Namibia.
The Capricorn Group remains committed to being Connectors of Positive Change, championing the development of women’s sport and empowering communities across Namibia. As the Capricorn Eagles take on the world’s best emerging teams in Nepal, they do so united, determined, and ready to make history.
