Cricket Namibia has launched the Pad Up for Her campaign, an initiative dedicated to tackling period poverty and ensuring that no girl is prevented from attending school, participating in sport, or pursuing her dreams because she lacks access to menstrual hygiene products.
The campaign aims to provide sanitary pads to girls in need while raising awareness that menstruation should never be a barrier to opportunity. Every girl deserves the dignity, confidence and support to remain in the classroom, stay active in sport, and continue chasing her ambitions.
The public is encouraged to support the campaign by attending the Capricorn Eagles T20I Series, taking place from 21 – 30 July 2026 at the FNB Namibia Cricket Ground and HP Oval, where the Capricorn Eagles will take on Uganda, Tanzania and Hong Kong, China. Throughout the tournament, spectators can donate packs of sanitary pads at the stadium entrance gates on every match day, with all donations going directly towards supporting girls in need.
Following the series, the donated sanitary pads will be distributed to girls at public schools across Namibia, as well as to girls at the cricket hubs across the country.
The Capricorn Eagles will do the official handover of the sanitary pads to public schools and to cricket hubs during their roadshow, helping to ensure that more girls have access to essential menstrual hygiene products.
Speaking on the initiative, Cricket Namibia’s Marketing Manager, Natalia Nauyoma, said:
“No girl should ever have to miss school, sit out of sport or stop chasing her dreams simply because she is on her period. Through the Pad Up for Her campaign, we want to restore dignity, build confidence and ensure that every girl has the opportunity to learn, play and achieve her full potential. Together, we can make a lasting impact, one donation at a time.”
Period poverty continues to affect thousands of girls across Namibia, with many missing school or withdrawing from sport because they cannot afford sanitary products. Through the power of cricket and the generosity of the Namibian community, Cricket Namibia hopes to change this reality and create opportunities for girls to thrive.
Cricket Namibia invites individuals and organisations to join the movement by donating sanitary pads and showing their support for the girl child. Every donation will help keep a girl in school, in sport, and one step closer to achieving her dreams.
