FNB Eagles Secure Thrilling Victory Against Oman

The FNB Eagles delivered a thrilling performance at home, securing a hard-fought victory against Oman in their third match of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 series in Windhoek. The win earns Namibia two valuable points in the standings.

Winning the toss, Namibia elected to bowl first and made an early impact with the ball. Jack Brassell led the attack brilliantly, claiming 4 wickets for just 22 runs in his 10 overs. Oman’s innings was anchored by Hammad Mirza and V. Shukla, who built a resilient 86-run partnership off 128 balls. However, Dylan Leicher broke the partnership at a crucial moment, shifting the momentum back in Namibia’s favour. Oman went on to post 218/9 in their 50 overs.

In response, Namibia’s innings began steadily, with the opening batters laying a solid foundation. Jan Frylinck played a standout knock, scoring an impressive 84 off 93 balls while also reaching his milestone of 1,000 ODI runs. Together with WP Myburgh, he built a crucial 81-run partnership off 89 balls.

Despite the strong start, the match bacame tense. Needing 6 runs from 6 deliveries, Zane Green and the eleventh player, Jack Brassell was at the crease.

Green, showing experience and calm under pressure, managed the strike effectively, supported by disciplined running between the wickets and great support by Jack. With just 2 runs required off 3 balls, Green sealed the victory in emphatic fashion, knocking a six off the ball guiding Namibia to 223/9 in 49.3 overs, and winning the game by 1 wicket with three balls remaining.

Green was named Player of the Match for his match-winning 40 not out off 35 balls, along with two catches.

The FNB Eagles now turn their attention to their next game, where they face Scotland on Sunday, 12 April 2026, at the FNB Namibia Cricket Ground, starting at 09:30.
