Cricket Namibia is pleased to announce that the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier will be staged in Windhoek from 31 August to 6 September 2025, bringing together eight countries in pursuit of two coveted spots at the Global Qualifier for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.
The event marks another milestone for women’s cricket in the region, with tournaments like this underscoring the rise and growth of the women’s game across Africa. Participating teams are Namibia (hosts), Zimbabwe, Uganda, Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania, Sierra Leone, and Rwanda. Rwanda and Sierra Leone secured their spots in July after finishing first and second at the ICC Africa Division 2 Qualifier in Botswana.
The tournament will be played at two world-class venues: the new FNB Namibia Cricket Ground and the HP Cricket Oval, both of which are set to co-host World Cup matches.
Namibia will be aiming to capitalise on home advantage, while Zimbabwe and Uganda arrive as higher-ranked teams with proven records in ICC pathway events. Fixtures are expected to be fiercely contested, with emerging African teams eager to make their mark.
Cricket Namibia CEO Johan Muller said:
“Namibia is pleased to host the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier and to welcome seven international teams to our new home of cricket. This event is not only about qualification, but also about celebrating the incredible rise of women’s cricket in Africa. We hope all participants enjoy the competition and the warm hospitality our country is known for.”
